Best Buddies National Program

Over 150 Carroll students participate in the Best Buddies program. Best Buddies is a nationwide program, whose mission it is to establish “one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.” More information on Best Buddies can be found here, at their website.

The Best Buddies have a program-wide party once a month, spend lunchtime together, and, through phone and text conversations, and outside of school activities, help each other cope with the high school and adolescent experience.

Once a year, the Buddies also take part in the Best Buddies Friendship walk. The walk promotes an atmosphere of acceptance, and opportunity, and, since 2009, has raised over $2 million for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
